Hello.
Corey Perrine is a driven and passionate independent photographer focused on news, sports, and portraits.
His 12-year career in newspapers helped craft his visual voice covering daily stories in Utah, Missouri, New Hampshire, Georgia, Nebraska, Florida, and now Pennsylvania.
The themes of his bodies of work revolve around obstacles and triumph. He contemplatively approaches people with empathy while documenting moment-driven, light-induced, uniquely-unfolding life events.
He believes documenting wrinkles in time gives viewers the liberty of how long to look and how much to reflect. Photojournalism is the delicate balance between art and storytelling, creativity and communication.
Along the way, he has garnered awards being recognized by Pictures of the Year International, the National Press Photographers Association, The Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, Northern Short Course, Southern Short Course and numerous state and regional competitions. He is a five-time NPPA Regional Photographer of the Year – runner-up thrice – and two-time NPPA National Clip Contest Photographer of the Year. In 2014 he was runner-up Photographer of the Year (small markets) in the Best of Photojournalism competition, second runner-up in 2012. In 2010 he was Sportsshooter.com Photographer of the Year, runner-up in 2013. Sportsshooter.com also named him the lone 2010 annual pro portfolio winner. He is an Eddie Adams XX (brown team) alumnus and has coached at The Mountain Workshops. He is frequently asked to judge and guest speak at annual competitions.
Continuing in story-telling excellence, he is now Philadelphia-based and is accepting Mid-Atlantic to worldwide assignments.
When not behind a camera, he presses and cleans comics to be graded and sold through his eBay store Comic Pursuit, attempts and fails at staying in shape, hikes with his dogs, neglects his blog, frequents the cinema and explores culinary delights with his lovely wife Sarah.
