Wipe Out
Julia Windsor, 11, wipes out Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Neptune Beach, Fla. According to a press release, "On June 13 and 14, the HEAL Foundation will hold the 16th annual HEAL Surf Camp in Neptune Beach. Twenty five local children and young adults with autism and other special needs will participate in the camp, supported by more than 100 volunteers. Each participant will receive individual instruction and the opportunity to surf, paddle board, boogie board, and ride in sea kayaks. The camp will be held from 8:30am-11:30am, at the end of Atlantic Blvd., next to Lemon Bar. " For 19 years, HEAL Foundation has assisted in creating and funding a multitude of specialized programs, camps and resources tailored to the needs of those who struggle daily living with autism. We have an outstanding, active Board of Directors who are proud to continue the HEAL Surf camp for the 16th year. I am most impressed with our surfing community who take off from work and donate their valuable time. The kids wait all year for this camp, and I take great joy in watching the bond develop between the instructors and participants. For many of the campers, this is their first opportunity to enjoy our beautiful beaches and master surfing, sailing, boogie boarding and kayaking," said HEAL Founder Leslie Weed. Partners included the City of Neptune Beach, Sunrise Surf Shop, the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach, Beach Life Rentals for providing beach chairs and umbrellas for the parents, the Seahorse Oceanfront Inn for providing parking, the Sears family, volunteers.
